No-Compromise Excellence
PERSONAL NOTE: My intention was to follow that MMWU with more on what No-Compromise Excellence entails, but I was sidelined with the sad news that my brother, Ron, passed away at 3 a.m. on February 6th after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Thank you for the outpouring of thoughts and prayers.
No-Compromise Excellence is the next phase of the No-Compromise Leadership process. It takes an entire company to achieve excellence. It’s a commitment to organizational performance, quality, innovation, execution and accountability. It’s something that every person on your team should strive toward.
Here are the foundational components of No-Compromise Excellence:
- Purpose and Intent: Purpose and intent are about energy and action. It’s about a profound commitment to do whatever it takes to achieve excellence. Purpose and intent should originate with the no-compromise leader.
- Connected Ownership: “Connected Ownership” communicates the width and depth of how a company thinks and behaves in order to achieve the state of No-Compromise Excellence. Think of Connected Ownership as a chain where the integrity of every link gives it strength to perform. One link with the slightest imperfection can result in disaster. Everyone matters.
- Selectivity: This is all about having the will to say “no” to eight of 10 new ideas so you can focus on the two best ideas at any given time and execute them with No-Compromise Excellence. Maybe one of those eight ideas you said “no” to today will be one of the two you say “yes” to next year. The point is to channel your company’s innovation, resources and energy on the select few - not the many.
- Deliberate Outcomes: Processes create consistency. Consistency delivers predictability. Take the time to get the processes right and No-Compromise Excellence will be the outcome.
- Company Compass: Your “Company Compass” is the drive and determination to get the work done, get it done right, and get it done on time. Your Company Compass keeps everyone heading in the right direction.
- Organizational Pride: We just completed training three new Certified Strategies Coaches. As founder and CEO, it’s so important for me to participate and deliver the “purpose and intent” of Strategies. Training began the morning my brother died. My team stepped up. Our new coaches stepped up. The training was an extraordinary and inspiring experience. It was No-Compromise Excellence in practice. I was given time to be with my family. I was so proud of my company. “Organizational Pride” is your company’s mojo, its secret sauce.
